Hindu Rope (Carnosa), Wax plant (Australis), (Bella)
Light:
Bright light is required. Some direct sun is beneficial but avoid hot afternoon sun in summer months.
Water:
Water thoroughly Spring to Fall, allowing the soil to dry out slightly in between waterings. Don’t let the plant sit in water. Water more sparingly in winter months. Mist leaves regularly, but not when the plant is in full bloom. Misting will increase humidity and can keep away unwanted pests.
Temperature:
Keep it warm year-round (65-75°F/18-24°C), with a minimum temperature of 60°F/16°C.
Flowering:
You can expect Hoyas to bloom in the spring, summer or fall, depending on the variety and under the correct growing conditions. Hoya can take time to adjust so you may not see many blooms until the plant is 2-3 years old. When buds do form or the hoya is in bloom, do not move or repot the plant.
Fertilizer:
Feed monthly spring through fall with a high-potassium liquid fertilizer diluted by half.
Potting:
Do not re-pot hoyas until absolutely necessary as root disturbance is resented. If repotting is necessary choose a container with drainage and choose a well-draining soil with plenty of perlite or pumice.
