Indoor Bird of paradise with the right care can produce flowers every 3-5 years.
Light:
Place your plant in a high light location with direct sun from autumn to spring, east-facing is ideal. Bright filtered light is best in the hot summer sun. It can tolerate indirect light but will flourish in a high light location.
Water:
In the spring and summer, keep the soil moist but never soggy, allow the topsoil to dry slightly between waterings. Water sparingly in the winter. Water from the bottom so the soil stays loose and remains well aerated. Mist leaves occasionally.
Temperature:
An indoor Bird of Paradise plant grows best in temperatures between 18°to 24 °C from spring to autumn. In the winter, when the plant is “resting,” keep the temperature cooler at 12 – 15 °C.
Fertilizer:
Feed monthly in the spring and summer when a Bird of Paradise is actively growing; use a balanced plant food diluted to 1/2 the recommended strength.
